Welcome back to The Blog Unleashed. This time around we're going to talk about potential followers. Specifically, the padawan/apprentice. Though for the sake of simplicity I'll just use the word padawan to mean either for this article.

Having a younger Force-user to mentor is a tradition of both the Jedi and the Sith so it would only make sense for that concept to show up in SW:TOR. Of course, the first thing we'd have to ask ourselves is just how likely a possibility of gaining a padawan as a follower is. Frankly, since we only know the most basic bits of information about the storylines for Jedi and Sith characters this it's very hard to gage this.

But let's run with the idea for a bit. Just what does having a padawan bring to the story? For one, just what kind of lessons you pass on and what sort of mentor you'd be would not only greatly impact your padawan but likely your light and dark side score as well. Convincing a padawan heading down the wrong path to turn around, corrupting a young and impressionable character, molding someone into a tool for your own designs or imparting the power of a great legacy are all potential storytelling avenues with a padawan around.

In terms of mechanics it certainly would be helpful to any Force-user to have a friend with a lightsaber helping them out in battles. It would also be pretty fun to be able to play a Consular/Inquisitor but train your padawan to be a Guardian/Warrior or vice versa. That would also help players to plug up any potential holes in their party.

Lastly, such an option would just be a perfect fit for what so many fans love about SW. How much fun would it be to create your own master and padawan team like Anakin and Ahsoka or Darth Bane and Darth Zannah and go out and kick butt? I'm guessing lots.

Will we get to see this in SW:TOR? Time will tell. It always does—my young apprentice.
